Ich hatte ja bereits erwähnt, dass die Ronmandos Galerie eine gute Adresse für zeitgenössische Kunst ist.
Spätestens mit diser Ankündigung verstehen sicher alle, was ich damit meine: Levi van Veluw kommt. Zu Ronmandos Amsterdam. Von 01. März bis 5. April.
Die Fotoserie des jungen Künstlers sind Selbstportraits, die er in einem “Ein-Mann-Prozess” kreierte. Levi van Veluw arbeitet seit Jahren ausschließlich mit seinem Gesicht. Er bemalt, beklebt, bespüht es, er modifiziert sein Gesicht mit Gegenständen und spielt dabei mit der Subjekt-Objekt Definition.
Im Gegensatz zu früheren Serien zeigt van Veluw in dieser Show keine reinen Selbstportraits sondern reinterpretiert das traditionelle Landschaftsgemälde. Er präsentiert stilisierte Landschaften, die reich an Farbe, Material und Textur auf und um seinen Kopf herum drapiert und plaziert wurden. Hingehen, Hinsehen. der kann was der Levi.
Un so klingt es in der Ronmandos-Ankündigung: “In this exposition van Veluw will showcase his latest series ‘Landscapes’. This 4-piece series reinterprets the traditional landscape painting, removing plots of grass, clusters of trees, babbling brooks from their intimate 2 dimensional formats and transposing them onto the 3 dimensional contours of his own face. Thus a fresh twist is given to the obsession inherent in the romantic landscape of recreating the world and simultaneously being part of it. The romantic landscape and self-portrait genres are combined as a means of re-examination.
Besides the four landscapes, Levi van Veluw will also present a new video piece, landscape installation and works from two other series of photographs.

Since having graduated from the Artez Art School in Arnhem the Netherlands, Levi van Veluw has enjoyed a remarkable amount of success in a short period of time, with his work being showcased in several different locations across Europe and the States, earning him a number of prestigious awards that include the Photographer of the Year Award at the IPA International Photo Awards in the USA.

Rotterdam, Ronmandos Galerie: von 3. Februar-29. April gibts die Solo Show “Faces” von Jak Beemsterboer zu sehen. Für alle, die in der Stadt sind: hingehen. Ronmandos ist eine gute Adresse, wenns um zeitgenössische Kunst geht und Jak Beemsterboer hat sich ja auch ein bischen Mühe gegeben mit seinen Portrait-Malerei-Collagen. (more…)
